Sledding is the perfect mix of exercise, nature, and adventure. Kids are often more motivated to hike in winter than in the summer because after the climb, a thrilling descent awaits. South Tyrol has many hiking trails that double as toboggan runs in winter and are specifically marked and maintained for sledging. Many ski areas also have dedicated toboggan runs. You can either use these for free by walking up (just make sure to walk on the edge of the slope!) or take the gondola for a small fee—especially convenient if the kids would rather sit on the sled than walk with it.
