In summer, it can get quite hot in South Tyrol, and Bolzano is often one of the hottest cities in Italy. Of course, you can still enjoy hiking with kids even in the middle of summer, as it’s usually cooler in the mountains than in the valley. Still, we often crave refreshing activities. Luckily, South Tyrol’s nature offers many cool retreats, like the ice holes in Appiano, refreshing waterfalls, shady gorges, or the underground tunnels of former mines. If you’d rather dive into cool water, check out South Tyrol’s lakes and outdoor pools.
