Family Hike around Weissbrunn Lake in Ultental Valley / Val d’Ultimo

The Weissbrunn Lake lies at the head of Val d’Ultimo, right at the gateway to the Stelvio National Park. The final stretch of road is narrow and winding – a challenge for less experienced drivers. An easier option is the regular public bus, which takes you directly to the lake.

From the paid parking area next to the lake, you can set off on an easy stroller-friendly circuit. The wide lakeside paths are ideal for a leisurely and stroller-friendly family walk. Afterwards, the meadows at the water’s edge invite you to spread out a blanket, enjoy a picnic, relax or let the kids play. In summer, dipping your feet into the refreshing mountain water or splashing at the shoreline makes the day even more memorable.

For food and drinks, you’ll find the Weissbrunn Bergestaurant and the cozy Weissbrunn Hut (Weissbrunn Almhüttl) directly at the lake (check opening hours in advance!).

Family Hike to Fiechtalm and Fischersee

From Weissbrunn Lake, well-marked trails lead to alpine pastures and higher mountain lakes. A particularly family-friendly option is the hike to Fiechtalm. In just 45 minutes you reach this welcoming alpine hut with animals and a playground – a highlight for children.

If you continue onwards, the path leads to the scenic Fischersee and from there back to Weissbrunn Lake in a pleasant circular route. For the full circuit, plan about 2 hours and 10 minutes walking time.
