In South Tyrol, autumn is the season of Törggelen, the traditional custom of tasting new wine with roasted chestnuts and local delicacies. Schlutzer, dumplings, hearty meat platters, roasted chestnuts, and many other traditional dishes – lingering for hours over a meal is simply part of the experience. But with children, that’s often easier said than done, since they rarely sit still for long.
OUR FAVORITE “BUSCHENSCHÄNKE” (FARMHOUSES) FOR FAMILY-FRIENDLY TÖRGGELEN
That’s why we’ve put together our favorite Törggelen spots – all with excellent food and plenty of space for kids to play. This way, parents can relax and enjoy, while the children have fun. Please note: advance reservations are required at all of these restaurants.
Zunerhof in Longostango / Renon
At Zunerhof you’ll savor the excellent cuisine of chef Zilli, while enjoying sweeping views of the Sciliar. Meanwhile, the kids will hardly want to leave the spacious playground. In autumn, this is a perfect place for family Törggelen.
Ebner Winery in Atzwang
A cozy, family-run winery where things move at a relaxed pace – and that’s exactly its charm. You might wait a little longer for your meal, but it’s worth it: authentic Törggelen dishes, homegrown wines, stunning views of the Isarco Valley, and play opportunities for children.
Pfefferlechner in Lana
A traditional “Buschenschank” with its own brewery, adventure playground, small petting zoo, beer garden, and hearty South Tyrolean dishes. In autumn, Pfefferlechner is a relaxed and family-friendly spot to enjoy Törggelen.
Wiedenhof in Cornedo
One of our favorite places in South Tyrol. From here, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view over the Bolzano basin. Host Markus welcomes guests with warm hospitality, while the dishes – prepared largely from farm-fresh ingredients – taste outstanding. Children will love the large playground and petting zoo, making Wiedenhof ideal for a family outing.

Noaferhof Winery in Glaning / San Genesio
With spectacular views of the Dolomites, estate-grown wines, a playground for kids, and above all, outstanding Törggelen cuisine, Noafer is a South Tyrolean classic. The estate has been in the same family for centuries and today includes both the Gasthaus Noafer and the Noaferhof winery. Many of the delicious specialties are made with products directly from the farm.
Pfoshof in Collalbo / Renon
A place where the whole family feels at home: a beautiful panorama, farm animals, a playground, and traditional South Tyrolean Törggelen cuisine – all come together at Pfoshof.
Eishof in the Pfossental Valley
At Eishof you’ll experience authentic farm-to-table cooking. In autumn, you can take part in Törggelen evenings (reservation required). Children can enjoy a small playground and pedal tractors. The farm is only accessible on foot via a scenic 1.5-hour hike – and with advance booking you can even stay overnight. Recommended for families with older kids, as Törggelen evenings here are usually lively and long.
