Route Description
The Sunday Path in Feldthurns is an easy, family-friendly hike in the Isarco Valley, ideal for children and perfect for a relaxed nature outing. Along the route, breathtaking views of the Dolomites open up at every turn, with the landscape especially stunning in spring and autumn.
The path is named the Sunday Path because it invites reflection and inner peace. Along the trail, you’ll encounter four stone sculptures by artist Sergio Sommavilla, designed to encourage pause and contemplation. Of course, with children, the pace can be livelier – ours preferred to run happily through the meadows rather than meditate quietly. 😉
Family-Friendly & Mostly Stroller-Accessible
he hike is generally suitable for all-terrain strollers. The first section is flat and paved, after which the path becomes slightly steeper and passes through meadows and forested areas. Stroller use is doable but can be a little challenging – a baby carrier may be a good alternative for younger children.
Route Description – How to Follow the Sunday Path
The hike starts at the parking area near Velthurns Castle. From there, follow Oberdorf Street until you see the Sunday Path signs on the right-hand side.
The first section follows a paved path before turning left toward the Panorama Path, which ascends gently through meadows until you reach the fourth and final stone sculpture – offering a stunning panorama of the Isarco Valley.
From here, continue toward Schnauders and shortly after Gasthaus Gasser, take Path No. 18 (do not continue on the Panorama Path to Feldthurns – it adds about one hour to the hike). The return route descends via a steep meadow path back into the village, reconnecting with Oberdorf Street and the starting point.
Picnic & Refreshments
Along the trail, picnic spots with magnificent views of the Dolomites invite you to rest and enjoy the scenery.
After the hike, we recommend stopping at Tonig Bar in Feldthurns – perfect for a snack or ice cream. The bar also features a lovingly designed playground, where children can burn off extra energy after the hike.
