Route description
This scenic waterfall can be reached via a short and easy hike (not suitable for strollers) and is especially worth visiting in summer. Start from the Sculpture Park in Lutago, where you can leave your car, and follow the signposted trail “Wasserfallrunde” (No. 23). Along the way you’ll pass small water wheels right next to the path that invite children to play, cross a bridge over the Schwarzbach stream, and then turn left towards the Schwarzbach Waterfall – always following the “Wasserfallrunde” signs.
The final stretch leads over wooden walkways attached to the rock, turning the path into a little adventure. The waterfall itself drops 15 meters and provides a refreshing cool-down on warm days.
For the return, you have two options: you can either take the same way back or extend your hike by about an hour to discover a second waterfall. At the beginning of the wooden walkways, simply follow the signs to the second cascade – the path becomes narrower and steeper but closes into a scenic circular loop that brings you back to the parking area.
Right next to the parking lot you’ll find the Sculpture Park, and just a few steps further lies the Water Park, perfect for rounding off your family excursion.
Tip: From the Schwarzbach Waterfall you can also continue to the beautiful, family-friendly Schwarzbachalm hut, another rewarding destination for hikers with children.
