Route description
This hike is perfect for exploring on foot, by bike (or balance bike), or even with a stroller—though our kids did have a bit of trouble on their balance bikes, as part of the path is gravel. A good place to park is at the tourist office in Luttach. From there, cross a small wooden bridge over the Ahr River, which leads you to a gravel path. With the Ahr on your right, the trail gently follows the valley downstream.
About halfway along, there’s a small playground on the left that makes a great spot for a break. On the right, you’ll keep spotting little beaches and coves where brave kids and parents can dip their feet into the crystal-clear (and icy cold!) Ahr—just be careful, as it’s a fast-flowing mountain stream.
After around 45 minutes, you’ll see a sign in the forest on the left pointing to the “Pojer Waterfall.” You won’t be able to take the stroller on this last stretch, but we simply left ours at the bottom. From there, it’s just a short climb up along a mountain stream until the majestic Pojer Waterfall comes into view.
For the adventurous, there’s a small path to the right secured with ropes, where you can carefully climb a bit higher and feel the spray of the waterfall on your face.
The return is along the same route. This hike can also be done in the opposite direction, starting from Sand in Taufers.
