In winter, the landscape transforms into a peaceful Winter Wonderland, full of magical silence that captivates every visitor.
Route – Hike Around Lake Carezza
If you park at Parking 1, a tunnel safely takes you to the other side of the road and directly to the lake’s viewing platform. From there, the easy circular trail begins:
Simply follow the well-marked path around the lake – it’s flat, straightforward, and easy to navigate. No special orientation is needed.
Family Tips
The trail around Lake Carezza is ideal for families, as it is very kid-friendly and stroller-accessible. Since the lake is one of South Tyrol’s most photographed spots, it can get quite busy during peak season.
Tip for more tranquility: Visit outside the main holiday periods. Late April / early May and November are especially quiet, when the Carezza Dolomites lifts are closed and fewer visitors are around.
Food & Refreshments
There are several restaurants and cafés around the lake. A recommended stop is the Bar Bistro Dolomiten in Welschnofen, perfect for a quick snack like pizza, toast, or something sweet. Families will appreciate the small play corner for children.
On warmer days, you can also enjoy a picnic on one of the many benches along the lakeshore – the views make every break special.
A Touch of Magic: The Legend of the Lake Nymph
To make the hike even more exciting for kids, you can tell them the legend of the Lake Nymph. With a little imagination, you might even spot her shimmering in the water during your walk! 😉
