When Lake Caldaro freezes in winter and the ice layer is thick enough, ice skating on Lake Caldaro in South Tyrol becomes a unique natural experience. The large, turquoise-blue lake turns into an extraordinary natural ice rink, accessible from both sides of the shore.

Access Points for Ice Skating on Lake Caldaro

Access via St. Josef am See
One option is to enter the ice via the pier at Camping St. Josef am See, which is closed during winter. Park your car in the small parking area across the road from the campsite. From there, walk through a small gate into the empty campsite and follow the wooden pier directly to the lake.

Access via Klughammer
Alternatively, you can access Lake Caldaro from the opposite shore near the hamlet of Klughammer. Parking is available at the Klughammer restaurant. From there, a pier leads directly onto the frozen lake.
